Warmtheheart185Successful Heating Assistance Program for Delaware Residents Now In Its 6th Year

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

(WILMINGTON, DE; December 10, 2010)Horizon Services, Inc. — the Delaware Valley’s premier residential plumbing, heating and air conditioning company — is pleased to annouce that for the sixth straight year, they will be providing FREE furnaces to needy families this winter through their Warm The Heart program.

Over the past four years, Warm the Heart — a non-profit organization based in Wilmington, DE — has provided more than 50 heating units and upgraded dozens of older and inefficient furnaces FREE OF CHARGE for low-income families in New Castle County, DE. This year, Warm the Heart will expand the program statewide, offering families in Kent and Sussex Counties as well the opportunity to apply for assistance.

“We started this program six years ago because we saw too many families in Delaware struggling through the winter with insufficient heat or resorting to dangerous heating alternatives,” said Mark Aitken, co-owner of Horizon Services. “Our employees said that we could not sit comfortably in our homes while other people right here in our community were suffering because they didn’t have the means to either replace or fix their old or broken down furnaces. We all wanted to make a real difference in people’s lives. And that’s how Warm The Heart was born.”

Warm The Heart is a not-for-profit organization that exists as a means to provide replacement furnaces to needy families in the state of Delaware who are not able to afford them on their own this winter. Founded by the employees of Horizon Services, Inc. in 2005, Warm the Heart was created to deliver necessary relief to less fortunate families who might otherwise ignore the potential life threatening issues of a faulty heating system and ease the pain of increasing utility bills by replacing old and damaged furnaces with new, high-efficiency heaters. To date, Warm the Heart has donated brand new furnaces for over 60 needy Delaware families and will purchase and install an additional 14 new furnaces in 2009/2010.
